As a Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and compliant daily operations of the airport across Airside, Terminal, and Landside areas. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with ICAO and national standards, proactively identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating emergency preparedness activities. You will collaborate closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, drive continuous improvement, and safeguard the aerodrome certification. Your expertise and vigilance will directly contribute to the safety, security, and operational excellence of the airport environment.
Main responsibilities include:
- Implement and monitor the Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with ICAO standards and national regulations.
- Ensure compliance with international safety standards (ICAO Annexes 9, 13, 14, 17, and 19) by all airport users.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across Airside, Terminal, and Landside areas.
- Investigate and report incidents, accidents, safety irregularities, and complaints.
- Coordinate and evaluate emergency exercises and serve as AAA’s liaison during emergencies when required.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation, reports, bulletins, and communication materials.
- Promote a safety culture through awareness programs, training, and participation in initiatives such as Safety Week and FOD Walks.
- Participate in and provide input for construction safety assessments, work permit compliance, and safety meetings.
- Collect, analyze, and follow up on safety data, confidential reports, and safety performance indicators.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in the field of Aviation Safety and/or Security.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an operational airside function with knowledge of the national and international aviation and Aviation regulations on safety and security.
- Strong knowledge of aviation safety and security methods, techniques, and programs
- Solid understanding of airport operations, particularly in safety-related functions
- Practical experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and their implementation
