OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
- Provides visionary and strategic leadership while directing and overseeing all activities of the NGC Group toward the fulfilment of the mission, strategy, and values, and the achievement of annual goals and objectives.
- Engages in local, regional and international stakeholder management and recommends, develops, and implements a comprehensive strategy to address the nation's emerging energy needs through the NGC Group.
- Develops and leads projects and initiatives to meet the changing market demands in which the NGC provides its products and services, ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory and governmental requirements and the establishment of appropriate corporate strategies, plans and perspectives.
- Creates opportunities for the longevity and viability of all companies and subsidiaries of the NGC Group by ensuring the development and delivery of innovative gas contracts to ensure sustainability of the entire group.
- Works with the Board of Directors, Presidents within the Group, Senior Management and other NGC Group executives to direct the implementation of the Group Strategic Plan and to oversee management systems aimed at maximizing shareholder value while developing a highly motivated, business-oriented and customer-driven organization.
FUNCTIONS
- Establishes international partnerships to promote an effective and sustained gas supply strategy for the medium and long term to ensure the survival and longevity of energy-based plants nationally. Pursues initiatives on marginal fields and across-the-border gas supplies at competitive pricing.
- Creates opportunities and drives new ventures to advance the business of the NGC and the Group and engages Group Presidents in driving their business, builds strategic alliances with local, regional and international partners and stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the energy sector.
- Establishes credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to national and organisational and group challenges. Ensures there is a sufficient flow of viable opportunities within the business development portfolio and advances opportunities according to plan and stipulated stage gates.
- Develops and implements diversification strategies to promote growth and development opportunities for the subsidiary companies of the NGC Group.
- Ensures sufficient opportunities for long term gas provision to supply the downstream business, identifies new opportunities to promote pipeline activity and support the business of National Energy Corporation. Conducts environmental scans to identify long term contracts to grow the Pt Lisas Estate.
- Spearheads the negotiation of new contracts and advances the development of the suite of agreements to initiate new business endeavours for the NGC. Leads the negotiation of innovative gas contracts to ensure value for the NGC Group, its clients and stakeholders, ensuring that appropriate legislative and internal management controls are established and maintained.
- Coordinates NGC's due diligence efforts by being the clearinghouse that arranges all multi-disciplinary teams handling contract due diligence.
- Spearheads strategic risk management across the NGC Group, coordinates and chairs group risk council meetings to ensure operational, strategic and emerging risks are identified and mitigated. Reviews the risk register to identify, document and ensure mitigation of all risks relevant to new opportunities prior to initiation of same.
- Provides strategic oversight for the operation of the pipeline network, evaluates and approves recommendations regarding supplier intake and customer supply to ensure the network remains balanced between supply and demand.
- Collaborates with the Leadership Team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the strategic objectives of the NGC.
- Oversees the implementation of an asset management and asset integrity framework that directs the effective coordination of a technology enabled security and risk management system to ensure the availability, proper utilization and safekeeping of the institution's resources and assets.
- Oversees the preservation of the asset value of NGC's capital investments, directs the management of construction and facility activities, and ensures disaster and emergency preparedness activities are appropriately planned, exercised, and documented.
- Monitors the effectiveness of the global supply chain including domestic and international transportation, ordering and import/export facilitation across the NGC Group.
- Ensures reduction in gas contract claims by overseeing the design of innovative contracts with specified arrangements of mandatory law to promote effective loss control and reduce exposure to risk.
- Influences the reliable provision of electricity nationwide by directly resolving matters with the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) and advises the government of Trinidad and Tobago on the introduction of power tranches in gas contracts to reduce loss of revenue.
- Actively engages in Cabinet Appointed Committees (CAC) to influence the national agenda for energy efficiency, medium and long term national gas supply and legislation governing the industry.
- Drives the implementation of new information, communication and technological advancements to enable the business and operations to perform at the highest levels of efficiency.
- Provides leadership in the execution of the legal and regulatory framework that governs the NGC and supports the Board's responsibility to develop and periodically review the mission, objectives and strategic plan.
- Engages relevant stakeholders from an active and global oil and gas network to identify the next potential transaction for acquisition, divestiture or strategic alliance. Develops new industry relationships to help locate, analyse and pursue new opportunities.
- Promotes inorganic growth (Mergers and Acquisitions M&A) by implementation of the group M&A process including sourcing, screening, evaluation and selection of opportunities for pursuit.
- Expands base revenue and grows new sources of revenue in accordance with targeted growth and develops and initiates key customer relationships to create additional revenue growth opportunities.
- Ensures effective governance within the organisation and attends relevant committee meetings of the Board and represents the company externally in core assemblies and forum within the oil and gas industry.
- Ensures NGC Group’s compliance with local and international tax legislation. Oversees the tax planning program for the NGC Group and, drives taxation risk minimization Ensures the effective monitoring and reviewing of the Groups taxes to ensure compliance and quality control.
- Ensures due diligence on upstream, downstream and midstream initiatives to ensure all potential alliances are a fit for the company and its subsidiaries.
- Directs the implementation of a robust quality management system that results in conditions and actions conducive to good quality management and offers a model to transparently present these to managers, considering their own part in quality and safety.
- Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization and the NGC Group to build the reputation of the Group nationally and internationally.
- Represents the NGC locally, regionally and internationally with customers, external agencies, government, the media and the public and liaises with national bodies, industry agencies as required to promote the objectives of the NGC. Influences regulators and stakeholders to impact decision making and effect policy and practice that promote the mission(s) and agendas of NGC Group and its subsidiaries.
- Ensures the NGC demonstrates a high level of corporate social responsibility in all the communities and vicinities in which it operates and contributes effectively to the development of community and society. Uses a sustainability lens to foster strong relationship management with the manufacturing and other sectors within the economy.
- Prepares management reports and review corporate performance reports for submission to the Board of Directors.
- Directs the effective operations of a security system to ensure the availability, proper utilization and safekeeping of the institution's resources and assets.
- Executes any other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The minimum requirements for the position are:
- MSc Engineering, Finance or other relevant area.
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
- Evidence of continuous learning as evidenced by enrolment in Professional Learning Community (PLC)
- At least twenty (20) years leadership experience in the oil and gas industry, ten (10) years or more of which should be at an international level.
