APA manages both the port in Oranjestad and the port in Barcadera. APA is an organization with ambitious plans for the future and is looking for candidates for the position: Nautical Manager

Position:

As a key member of the management team, the Nautical Manager reports to the CEO and assumes a strategic role in the overall nautical management of the company. The Nautical Manager will have primary daytoday responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all nautical related activities of the company. This includes direct responsibility for pilotage, port traffic control, pilot and tugboat operations, safe (un)mooring of vessels. Furthermore, the Nautical Manager is responsible for the compliance with local and international laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

Prospective candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum a bachelor’s degree in the Maritime field;
• At least 7 years’ experience in a relevant leadership position;
• Theoretical and technical knowledge of the maritime industry, including local and international laws and regulations;
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, management and analytical skills;
• Ability to assist with highlevel decisions about vision, policy, and strategy; Insight into social, financial, economic, technical, legal or political administrative matters of one's own field of work;
• Experience with the operations of tugs, pilot boats, mooring boats, mooring lines and anchors, etc;
• Knowledgeable of the use of nautical charts and instruments;
• Knowledgeable of organizational and process management;
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and resultsorientation;
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines
• Willing and able to work flexible hours when needed;
• Proficient in Microsoft software, including Ms Suites ;
• Fluent in Business English, Dutch and Papiamento (verbal and written).
