What is the opportunity?
We are looking for an outstanding professional to join our Internal Audit (IA) team in RBC Caribbean as a Manager. In this role, you will provide independent, objective risk assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of risk management practices, internal controls and governance processes in the RBC’s Personal and Commercial Banking area primarily but not limited to the Caribbean.
What will you do?
- Assess effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices and governance processes to draw conclusions to complete the audit programs
- Maintain IA standards in independently executing audit programs and procedures as assigned by the audit engagement lead. Document audit evidence and report results in a timely manner, ensuring effective audit practices for traditional audits and continuous monitoring
- Identify the key risks and potential business impact and with guidance from the Senior Manager leading the audit, develop value added recommendations
- You will help to create solutions that support units in following RBC policies, complying with regulatory requirements and implementing industry best practices
- Key relationships: senior management in various Caribbean and other RBC platforms, external auditors and regulators
- Discover patterns, insights, trends and anomalies from straightforward analyses, data sets and visualization tools
- Not a people manager role (i.e., no direct reports)
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Undergraduate Degree in relevant discipline
- 5-7 years depth and breadth of auditing/banking/financial services experience
- Relevant professional designation (e.g., CIA, ACCA or equivalent), or firm commitment to earn designation in short order. Any additional relevant professional designation would be an advantage
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate a wide variety of complex information in both oral and written format
- The ability to quickly understand the risks associated with new services and / or processes and products
- The ability to formulate practical audit procedures to adequately monitor new risk and ensure adherence to limits
- Strong problem solving and negotiating skills to mitigate conflicts arising from difficult situations
- Proficient time management and organizational skills
Nice-to-have
- Understanding of Advanced Analytics and data visualization and reporting
- Master’s Degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of risk management, regulatory standards, auditing standards and business processes in the financial services environment
Working Conditions
- 20-30% audit-specific travel required: assignments are generally for 2 weeks, but may vary based on unit and audit scope, but should not usually exceed 3 weeks
