Manager, Capacity Management BB

Purpose of Role:

The Manager, Capacity Management is responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s technology environments, applications and infrastructure has the resources it needs to meet current and future demands, planning, analysing, sizing, and optimizing capacity to satisfy demand, e.g. the storage space, memory and processing requirements for the servers. The incumbent leads assigned resources and supports assessments of capacity requirements for projects and initiatives, including evaluation, documentation, and recommendations for application releases into operations with the seamless integration of existing Bank products / services, risk requirements and new emerging technologies.
 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyses & evaluates business requirements bank-wide initiatives, determining / identifying capacity requirements, using related research data, capacity reports and assessments in the context and the complexity of the underlying environment, documenting and recommending support for applications deployed into operations to ensure seamless integration of existing Bank products / services and new emerging technologies.
  • Manages & analyses capacity management requirements / activities related to the Bank’s technology environment, including in scope service providers, identifying trends and potential resource / capacity issues to ensure that resource planning and capacity capabilities issues identified are addressed to mitigate operational impact.
  • Owns & manages the ACA/ICA (Application Capacity Assessments / Infrastructure Capacity Assessments) process including reviewing assessments completed by project manages, reviewing operational risks associated with new and enhanced applications and infrastructure capabilities and recommending the mitigating actions to be taken to ensure the proactive identification of capacity and performance risks and ensuring alignment with the capacity management standards.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and recommendations on capacity management issues for technology related projects and initiatives in collaboration with the business to ensure all required processes and procedures are adhered to and mitigations are implemented to address any identified, gaps.
  • Manages successful and timely resolution of detected capacity and availability issues, reviewing performance and capacity reports and dashboards generated by the capacity management tools and assigned resources to ensure adequate capacity requirements are met, continued customer satisfaction and mitigation of risks.
  • Develops & maintains relationships with Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation partners through regular information sharing sessions and consultations on the capacity management principles  to advance the capacity management discipline within the Bank and improve the quality of capacity assessments.
  • Prepares & manages budgetary proposals and related justifications based on the data analysis and reports produced during the capacity management process     to ensure the required hardware resources related to capacity and currency identified / needed are procured to address existing and future demands.
Critical Knowledge & Experience Required:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT service management processes, including change management, incident management, problem management, and IT infrastructure components and principles for cloud and network environments.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in undertaking / managing capacity assessments for application and infrastructure release planning with domain expertise in either: Windows, UNIX, Network, or Mainframe I IT Operations.
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience leading capacity related initiatives, monitoring CPU usage, analyzing application utilization reports, performing enterprise capacity management activities across platforms like servers, iSeries, and networks.
  • Proven ability to management a team
  • Experience in vendor management, budgeting, obtaining successful audits
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field, e.g., statistics, engineering, computer science
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations
