THE DEPARTMENT

The Projects Department (PD) is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective identification, preparation, appraisal and supervision of a portfolio of public and private sector projects. This work is delivered through three Divisions and two Units, each providing a focus on one of the following – the social sectors, economic infrastructure, environmental sustainability, private sector development and procurement policy.

THE DIVISION
The Economic Infrastructure Division (EID) is responsible for project cycle activities from project identification through implementation, associated with infrastructure projects, including tourism heritage sites. The post-disaster response is also the responsibility of EID.
 
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

The intern will assist staff members in the Division with:

  • Organising information, using the Bank’s enterprise content management and business intelligence tools;
  • Conducting research;
  • Writing documents; and
  • Other day-to-day work, as assigned.
 
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
 
To intern will report to the Division Chief, Economic Infrastructure Division or his/her designee.
 
 
EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES
 
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Economics, Information Technology, or other similar/related disciplines, or graduated in the last 12 months.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills, able to effectively communicate ideas.
  • Good quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn similar applications quickly.
  • Able to work well in a team environment and interested in the work of the Caribbean Development Bank.
  • Able to work in an international, multi-cultural and diverse environment.
 

LOCATION, DURATION AND TIMING

This assignment will be carried out at CDB’s Headquarters in Barbados over a 3-month period, commencing in July 2025 and ending in September 2025.
