Compliance officer CW

General Purpose:

The Compliance Officer ensures the Bank adheres to external regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and procedures. This role involves identifying and managing compliance risks, ensuring effective internal controls, staying up to date with regulatory changes, and supporting business areas in meeting their compliance obligations.  The Compliance officer has to work with management and staff to identify and manage regulatory risk. Additionally, the Compliance Officer assists in addressing AML/CFT weaknesses identified by internal audits and regulatory reviews.

 

Position Highlights:

  • Conduct risk assessments to evaluate regulatory risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant AML/CFT laws, regulations, and internal policies, adapting to any changes in regulatory requirements.
  • Review and analyze customer transactions to identify and report unusual or suspicious activities to the FIU.
  • Ensure timely submission of objective and subjective reports to the FIU as required.
  • Provide training to employees on compliance regulations and the impact of non-compliance.
  • Investigate compliance breaches, irregularities, and non-compliance issues.
  • Report on compliance performance, highlighting risks and areas of concern.
  • Assist in maintaining robust compliance controls and responding to regulatory requests.
  • Work closely with internal audit teams to address AML/CFT deficiencies and improve compliance processes.
  • Promote a culture of compliance by collaborating with other departments.

 

Requirements:

  • Higher Vocational (HBO) level, 3-5 years of experience in law, finance, business management, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification in the field, or the willingness and capability to obtain upon first opportunity.
  • Strong knowledge of the relevant banking laws and AML/CFT regulations.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring systems and case management tools.
  • Knowledge of banking software
