In this role you are responsible for the screening airport passengers, airport community employees and bags for prohibited and dangerous objects and materials Maintaining efficient passenger traffic flows through airport security checkpoints.
Key Accountabilities:
- Checks passengers and employees with the use of metal detectors, sniffers or by searching to prevent weapons, explosives, liquids and other forbidden items to be carried onto the airplane
- Checks baggage using x-ray equipment or sniffers and if necessary, carries out a manual baggage check
- Is constantly on the lookout for suspicious persons and luggage
- Informs the supervisor or watch commander in case of uncertain, suspicious or dangerous circumstances
- The screener makes decisions about performing additional manual checks and alerting the supervisor in case of suspicious or dangerous situations and when checking the travel documents
- Operation of the x-ray equipment and safety and security regulations
- The screener is hierarchically accountable to the watch commander for the progress and thoroughness of the screening procedures carried out
- The screener is functionally accountable to the supervisor for the execution of the shift and the alertness with which he responded to unsafe situations.
Required competencies:
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and procedures for carrying out checks, for x-ray equipment and manual checks
- Must be able to learn to use security instruments and equipment for screening
- Insight and skills in identifying suspicious or dangerous circumstances
- Ability to screen and search people and baggage
- Team player
- Communication and interpersonal skills
